A: OVERVIEW of MOGUL’s ANIMAL FEED MILL PROCESS EQUIPMENT:-

Mogul manufactures a wide range of proven ANIMAL FEED MILL PROCESS EQUIPMENT. Animal feed mill process equipment includes hammer mills; feed mixers; pellet mills; crumbling mill; extruders; oil expellers; extrude-expel; batch weighing systems; weighing and bagging plus bag-closing equipment and SCADA. Animal feed process equipment can be divided into grain-based feeds for poultry/pigs/mono-gastric and roughage-based feeds for cattle/ruminants.

1: GRAIN-BASED/MONO GASTRIC ANIMAL FEED PROCESS EQUIPMENT:-

MOGUL’s animal feed mill process equipment can serve as an “individual” FEED MILL or within our MULTI-ROLE PLANTS will cover animal feed mill equipment; human foods and edible oil process plant plus fish process plant and pet food process plant. The relatively small MULTI-ROLE plants with ANIMAL FEED MILL equipment allows multi-markets including food processing equipment to be served and thus spread the capital investment risk across a spectrum of products, usually sold through similar sales outlets.

ANIMAL FEED MILL PROCESS EQUIPMENT for:-

FEED MILL: MICRO +/-1.5 to 2 tonne/hour.

FEED MILL: MACRO +/-3 tonne/hour.

FEED MILL: MINI +/-5 tonne/hour.

FEED MILL: MAXI +/-12 to 20 tonne/hour.

FEED MILL: MEGA above 20 tonne/hour.

 

 

The manufacture of animal feeds using feed mill equipment involves the use of either manual or electronic BATCH WEIGHING SYSTEMS for raw materials. The main raw materials are usually MAIZE; GRAINS; FULL and LOW FAT SOY OILCAKES and other oilcakes plus wheat and maize milling by-products. The soya oilcakes made from “local” soybeans minimises the importation of solvent extracted soy oilcake. FULL FAT SOYA OILCAKE is made through an EXTRUDER, which can become the core machine of other process plant. An OIL EXPELLER added to the extruder becomes an EXTRUDE-EXPEL process and with other equipment added at the end of this extruder will make LOW FAT SOYA OILCAKE and EDIBLE CRUDE FILTERED SOY OIL. The oil is sold for CASH to an “unsophisticated” rural market at less cost than FULLY REFINED, DEODORISED and WINTERISED OIL. MOGUL manufactures and supplies both extruders; oil expellers; plus extruder spares and expeller spares as well as EDIBLE OIL PROCESS PLANT.

 

In the use of feed mill equipment, which uses extruders and oil expellers to make FULL FAT SOYA OILCAKE and LOW FAT SOYA OILCAKE there is major “spin-offs” where jobs are created; self-empowerment and upliftment of a poorly educated “peasant” population. These jobs will include LIVE/BROILER and LAYING BIRDS plus fish food for and growing of TALAPIA etc.. Thus food is created and more jobs created at “ground level”. Even children bereft of their parents can run simple chicken farms. The food and feeds are made with the use of hammer mills mixers and also individually or a combination of extruders; expellers; mixing and pellet mills. The same extruder supplied with feed mill equipment and with the additional plant can become the “core” of a MULTI-ROLE PLANT and can make CSB instant cereal. CSB is a CORN-SOYA BLEND, which is based on the UN/WFP “survival” food of a “meal a day” where 1000’s of tonnes are consumed. There is a huge commercial market for this especially considering a meal a day would cost +/-US$0.35 or US$10 per month to feed 1 person with an almost 100% “balanced” meal with day-long energy; vital minerals and vitamins, which reflect in a much improved well-being of a person. CSB is far superior to maize; cassava, millet or sorghum meal.

 

Other “stand-alone” OIL EXPELLERS with different worms and cages will expel oil from SUNFLOWER SEED making outstanding quality “cold-pressed” sunflower oil. The OILCAKE from this process is used by the feed mill equipment for mature LAYING BIRDS and CATTLE/RUMINANT FEEDS. Similarly GROUNDNUTS/PEANUTS are expelled giving high quality oil and oilcake. This can form part of a Community Cooperative or self-contained business.

 

MOGUL’s “core” HAMMER MILL design revolves round a 360 degree and side wall of perforated plate/screen. The hammer mill is far more efficient in terms of energy-use than conventional half-moon screened hammer mills. Apart from up to 50% power saving per tonne via the MOGUL hammer mill the generation of fines or flour drops dramatically. This is important for laying bird feeds.

 

BATCH WEIGHING SYSTEMS ex MOGUL can range from simple platform scales for the MICRO FEED MILL PROCESS EQUIPMENT to fully automated from MACRO through MINI to MAXI and MEGA FEED MILL PROCESS EQUIPMENT. BATCH WEIGHING SYSTEMS use 2 speed feeders and material “in-flight” compensation with batch mass/ingredients logging; variance reporting to stock movements of raw materials. Similar principles apply to BAGGING MACHINES, that is manual for simple MICRO to even MINI FEED MILLS, through to high-speed machines again with material “in-flight” compensation; logging and variance reporting. The MICROPROCESSOR can be accessed by INTERNET for fault identification. The raw materials’ holding bins are carefully designed to suit both easy and difficult materials. The latter includes wheat and maize brans, which tend to bridge and “hang-up”.

 

MOGUL has a variety of proven FEED MIXERS. Simple very low energy DRUM MIXERS for 220 and 380 volt drives up to 10 tonne/hour. Also BOMB-DOOR RIBBON BLENDERS and BOMB-DOOR TWIN SHAFT/BEATER HIGH SPEED MIXERS for FEED MIXERS.

 

PELLET MILLS made by MOGUL are extremely rugged and have simple V-belt drives. Our pellet mills have been made since 1994. Prior to this MOGUL totally re-manufactured many other types of Competitive pellet mills. Pellet mills can also be sourced ex overseas, which have been re-manufactured. MOGUL’S pellet mill is effectively the same as the pellet mills ex USA and Europe and of proven “in the field” use. The MOGUL V-belt pellet mill has 2 main bearings versus a gearbox driven pellet mill having up to 7 bearings. MOGUL’s pellet mills use high quality long-life dies and roller shells. Our pellet mills use standard easy to locate METRIC rather than hard to find IMPERIAL bearings. MOGUL has extensive “hands-on” experience of maximizing pellet mill capacity. The pellet mill is supplied with the correct input of “conditioned” steam. This is in terms of correct steam quality of pressure and volume injected into the pellet mill conditioner. MOGUL’s pellet mills have been supplied with INVERTERS or VARIABLE-SPEED DRIVES to reduce the start-up current, POWER FACTOR CORRECTION and dramatically reduce the KWH costs. MOGUL’s pellet mills are supplied with single or twin-drives. The feed rate to the pellet mill is via a feeder, which is correctly designed for the feed type coming in from the feed mill mixers and correctly designed with an INVERTER for VARIABLE SPEED DRIVE. Where pellet mill motors become restrictive because of limited electrical power, then our pellet mills can operate through diesel motors from 45 to 150 Kw and above. Our pellet mills are designed for “Africa” conditions and are simple and can tolerate abuse. The pellet mill is extremely simple to maintain. Main bearing replacements on a MOGUL pellet mill is 1 day downtime versus considerably more on a gearbox driven pellet mill.

 

2: ROUGHAGE PLANTS for FEED MILLS and FEEDLOTS using ROUGHAGE-BASED FEEDS for RUMINANTS/CATTLE based on SUGAR CANE BAGASSE and COTTON HULLS ex a GINNERY, plus MOLASSES.

MOGUL has been deeply involved in the production of ruminant/cattle feeds using sugar cane bagasse pith and molasses with tonnages of +600 tonne/day. Plus another ruminant feed based on the “waste” product of cotton hulls ex a GINNERY. MOGUL has supplied this specialised mixing plant for these difficult materials. The technical know-how is not public domain design for PROVEN production units. Conventional FEEDLOT MIXERS are also supplied by MOGUL along with the necessary bulk materials handling process plant and equipment.
